USAF - I
In 1986 Michael Thomas, in partnership with AEGON, NMB Bank (Now ING), and other Dutch investors, founded United States Arbitrage Finance I to invest in Government Guaranteed Loans and interest only strips derived from loans guaranteed by the United States Government. USAF I, the first investor in strips on SBA and USDA loans, was a pioneer and a leader in the secondary market as an investor until the business was sold to Union Planters. United States Arbitrage Finance -II, LLC ("USAF II, LLC") is a modified and expanded restart of USAF I.
B&I Lending, LLC
In 1997 Michael Thomas founded B&I Lending, LLC, a non bank nationwide lending company specializing in making USDA RD Loans. B&I Lending was the industry leader and the #1 USDA RD lender in the nation from 1998 until it was sold in 2001.
